The brand-new BMW X5 ushers in a new era for our popular luxury SUV, and we are here to walk you through the differences in trim levels in Los Angeles. Available models for the gas-powered BMW X5 will include the X5 40, X5 40 xDrive, and an M Performance variant expected later next year. Learn more about each trim below, then visit us at Beverly Hills BMW to meet our team and discuss your options for owning or leasing a brand-new X5 SUV.
BMW X5 40
The new BMW X5 40 is powered by a turbocharged 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine, delivering 394 horsepower and 428 pound-feet of torque, an improvement of 19 hp and 45 lb-ft from last year's X5. The X5 40 uses rear-wheel drive (RWD) for dynamic, sporty capability throughout Los Angeles. 48-volt mild-hybrid technology improves efficiency for the X5 40 as well.
New Neue Klasse design language informs the X5 exterior upgrades. A taller front end meets clean surfaces and a larger BMW badge, while an illuminated grille is newly standard for X5 SUVs. Inside the cabin, an upgraded center console features two cup holders, two USB-C ports, and a smartphone tray with wireless charging. An optional front-passenger-side screen is available, while cabin premium upgrades include a panoramic glass sunroof, four-zone climate control, and a Bowers & Wilkins audio system with Dolby Atmos.
BMW X5 40 xDrive and Upcoming M-Series Performance Model
New BMW X5 trim levels differ primarily by powertrain, with the X5 40 xDrive using the same engine as the X5 40 with xDrive all-wheel drive (AWD) capability. BMW has announced the arrival of an M-powered performance X5 SUV, with details to follow as we approach its introduction later in 2027. Our team at Beverly Hills BMW will provide updates as we learn more.
