The 2027 BMW X5 is fully redesigned for the new model year. Its exterior is overhauled, its interior features new materials and tech systems, and powertrain options are revamped for 2027.

Updates for the 2027 BMW X5

  • Design: using the Neue Klasse design language, the 2027 BMW X5 offers a fresh look for 2027. The X5 stands out with a taller stance, illuminated grille, larger BMW badging, new wheel designs, and 11 color options to choose from
  • Performance: the 2027 BMW X5 uses a turbocharged 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine with 394 horsepower and 428 pound-feet of torque, boosting overall performance for 2027
  • Premium Features: new 2027 BMW X5 models are available with a panoramic glass roof, four-zone automatic climate control, passenger-side touchscreen, and premium Bowers & Wilkins audio system with Dolby Atmos sound

Exterior Design

The 2027 BMW X5 uses new Neue Klasse design language, offering a fresh look for the new model year. Its upright front end is taller, while clean surfaces and a matte-finish BMW badge highlight the front end. Horizontal air intakes, an illuminated grille, daytime driving lights, and Welcome Light animations are all standard, and drivers can choose between 11 colors for the latest X5.

Interior Design

Neue Klasse design language also informs the 2027 BMW X5 interior cabin. Welcome and goodbye animations give your cabin a seamless feel, while reduced surfaces give the cabin a fresh look. Natural materials and slate/glass trim inform the cabin, with features including two USB-C ports up front, a panoramic glass sunroof, 2.5-zone automatic climate control, and heated sport front seats. Options include four-zone climate control, ventilated seats, and heated rear seats.

Performance

New 2027 BMW X5 models use a turbocharged 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine, delivering 394 horsepower and 428 pound-feet of torque. This gives the 2027 BMW X5 significantly more power than previous model years, with standard rear-wheel drive (RWD) and available all-wheel drive (AWD). A new M-powered V8 performance model will also be available later in 2027.

Technology

A large 17.9-inch center touchscreen uses BMW Panoramic iDrive software for an overhauled tech experience. A 3D Head-Up Display is standard, along with a 12-speaker sound system, steering wheel-mounted controls, BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a host of connected features available through the My BMW app and your mobile device. Options include a massive Bowers & Wilkins premium audio system with Dolby Atmos sound.

Safety

Standard driver-assist systems for the new 2027 BMW X5 include Lane-Keeping Assist, Blind Spot Warning, Side Collision Protection, Cross-Traffic Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Warning, Evasive Steering Assist, and Safe Exit Warning.
